Install ClamAV on CentOS/Ubuntu/Debian


CentOS 6
1.) Install EPEL6
Code:
rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/i386/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

2.) Install ClamAV using yum
Code:
yum install clamav-db clamav clamd

3.) Update virus database
Code:
freshclam

4.)Turn on and start the clamd daemon
Code:
service clamd start
chkconfig clamd on

Ubuntu/Debian
1.) Install ClamAV
Code:
apt-get install clamav clamav-daemon clamav-freshclam

2.) Update virus database
Code:
freshclam

3.) Turn on and start the clamd daemon
Code:
service clamav-daemon start
update-rc.d clamav-daemon defaults
update-rc.d clamav-freshclam defaults

Running manual scans

Scan a directory:
Code:
clamscan -ri /home

To automatically remove infected files:
Code:
clamscan -ri --remove /home
